What wello is, and how it works
Wello helps you find things you actually want to do with people nearby. Some are free, some are paid. Some are created casually, others professionally. If you can’t find the thing you want to do, you can create it yourself.
Finding and joining
- Find something: explore what’s happening around you, based on where you are and what you’re into.
- See what you’re joining: what you’ll be doing, who created it, the general area and what to expect.
- Request a place: some are approved individually, some let you join automatically.
- Show up: once you’re in, you get the details you need.
- Leave feedback: help the next person decide.
Putting something on
- Start with the idea: what you want to do, when, roughly where, and how many people can join.
- Decide how people join: free or paid, and whether requests need your approval.
- Put it out there: people nearby can find it and ask for a place.
- Do the thing: Wello handles the practical bits around joining, payments and messages.
Wello keeps groups smaller
We’re not trying to fit as many people as possible into everything. Smaller groups give you a chance to actually take part, talk, and remember who you met. You’re part of it, not in the audience. Whoever creates an experience sets the size that suits it.
Getting paid & the fees
Whoever creates an experience chooses the price. When it’s paid, Wello handles payment through Stripe and takes a 10% platform fee. Free experiences have no fee at all.
Paid experiences
Payments run through Stripe, a regulated payment company. Your card and bank details are handled by Stripe rather than by us, and money reaches the person who created the experience after it happens.
Whoever creates an experience is responsible for delivering what they described, and for their own tax obligations.
Identity checks
Identity verification is required for certain parts of Wello, including paid experiences and any experience where verified guests are required. Wello is 18+ throughout.
Verification is handled securely by Stripe Identity. Wello doesn’t receive or store copies of your identity document or your verification selfie.

- Spam, scams, or taking payment off-platform to dodge protections
- Sharing others’ private info, or recording people without consent

Wello is built around meeting people you may not already know. That means trust can’t be an afterthought.
Cancellations & refunds
Life happens. Free experiences are easy to leave; paid ones are refunded fairly, on rails you can trust.
Cancelling a spot
- Free events: just cancel, no charge, no fuss.
- Paid events: refunds follow the policy set for that experience (Flexible, Moderate or Strict), which you always see before you pay.
- If the the person who created it cancels: you’re refunded in full, automatically.
Setting your policy
- Choose a policy: Flexible, Moderate or Strict when you create a paid event; guests see it up front.
- If you cancel: your guests are refunded automatically, no admin for you.
- Refunds run through Stripe: money goes back to the guest’s original card, securely.
The exact refund window for each policy is shown on every experience, so there are never any surprises.
What we keep, and what we don’t
We only keep what Wello needs to work. Your profile, experiences, bookings, messages and settings live with Wello. Sensitive payment and identity information is handled by regulated providers such as Stripe. We don’t sell your personal data to advertisers.
Frequently asked
Anyone 18 or over can create something on Wello, subject to our rules and any verification required for the kind of experience they’re creating. You don’t need to be a professional organiser: experiences can be casual, recurring, or something you run professionally.
Joining is free, and free experiences stay completely free. When you sell tickets, you keep 90% and Wello takes a 10% platform fee — that’s it. No listing fees, no subscription.
It’s a one-time check, needed in two cases: anything involving money, hosting or joining a paid experience, and joining an experience where verified guests are required. It’s done by Stripe Identity, a regulated third party. Wello never sees or stores your documents; we just get a “verified” confirmation back.
Payments run through Stripe, and payouts land in your bank automatically, typically within a couple of days of your experience.
If a the person who created it cancels, guests are refunded in full, automatically. If a guest cancels, refunds follow the experience’s cancellation policy — which is always shown before booking.
No. Wello starts with what you want to do, not who you want to date. You meet people through shared experiences rather than swiping through profiles. Some people make friends, some simply have a good evening, and that’s fine too.
