The unwritten rules (written down)

Ratings run both ways on Wello. Here's what the best hosts and the best guests actually do.

For hosts

  • Answer requests fast. A pending request is a person checking their phone. Decide within a day.
  • Decline kindly. Choosing who joins is your call. A warm pass keeps someone's courage intact for the next event.
  • Break the ice early. The first ten minutes decide how the whole thing goes. Names, a game, a job for early arrivals. Anything beats silence.
  • Keep your word. Start near the time you set, deliver what the listing promised, and if plans change, message everyone before they've left home.
  • Ask before you post. Photos of guests are theirs to okay. A quick "anyone off-camera?" at the start covers it.

For guests

  • Request honestly. Only ask to join things you'll actually attend, no-shows follow your profile around.
  • Use "On my way". It tells your host you're real and en route; it opens three hours before the start.
  • Respect the space. Someone opened up their home, their studio, their table or their Sunday morning to you. Whatever they've asked of you isn't a suggestion.
  • Contribute something. A bottle, a snack, a hand with chairs, good questions. The best guests leave a thing better than they found it.
  • Review honestly, kindly. Ratings are how trust compounds here. Praise publicly; raise problems through reports, not review bombs.

The one-line version

Hosts: put on the thing you'd want to be invited to. Guests: be the person who gets asked back.
